Search is the underpriced acquisition channel most brands still run as branded-only As Meta CPMs keep climbing, the cheapest incremental reach in DTC right now is Google Search worked across the full funnel — not the branded / bottom-of-funnel keywords most brands cap it at. One account can capture every stage of intent: • Informational queries (top of funnel) • Comparison queries — "x vs y", "best ___" (mid funnel) • Category queries (bottom funnel) • Branded queries (existing demand) Operators running all four report search pulling a disproportionate share of revenue: one €998k / 60-day account where search took ~30% of budget but produced ~56% of revenue, and prospecting-only search scaled to ~$26k/week at roughly 3x ROAS. Most brands bid only the last two stages and hand the upper-funnel intent — where the buyer is still deciding — entirely to paid social. Why it holds up: buyers don't move in a straight line. Google's consumer research shows they loop between exploration (widening options) and evaluation (narrowing them) before they buy — the "messy middle." Search ads that meet them inside that loop, paired with a matched landing page, capture demand more cheaply than interrupting a cold feed.
